STUDENT CLUBS OVERVIEW

CAPA-MC is home to a diverse range of clubs comprised of talented and passionate students spanning from elementary to high school levels. These clubs are united by a common goal: to make a positive impact on our community. Each club brings its unique set of skills and expertise to contribute to various causes. Chinese American Parents and Students Association (CAPSA)

  • CAPSA, founded in 1988, is a community organization that seeks to support the Chinese American community in Montgomery County, Maryland.
  • Promotes cross-cultural understanding
  • Provides assistance to new immigrant families in the Montgomery County educational system
  • Utilizes a vast resource bank to enhance the multicultural environment in the MCPS

Growing & Giving Club (G&G)

  • GGC is dedicated to serving the community through growing organic produce and helping those in need
  • GGC promotes eco-friendly practices to protect the environment
  • GGC was awarded an outreach grant by the Chesapeake Bay Trust and Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection to promote protection of local watersheds and the Bay

Junior Reporter Club (JRC)

  • CAPA JRC is a group of second generation Chinese Americans who aim to make a positive difference in the Chinese American community through Journalism
  • CAPA JRC voices the opinions or thoughts of Asian American students CAPA JRC covers local events with articles written in both English and Chinese
  • CAPA JRC publishes monthly newsletters to update the Chinese America community with latest issues or trending topics and much more
  • Merits: Rho Psi Scholarships, Citation from MD Governor Larry Hogan

IT Club

  • CAPA’s IT Club provides free, high quality, and easily accessible IT services to local clubs and organizations

iTeach Club

  • Delivers weekly online English lessons to seniors
  • Served 120+ seniors from local and out of state communities in the past year
  • Creates lesson slides and audio on the topics that seniors are most interested in

Special Education Equal Development Society

  • SEEDS provides online tutoring and group activities to enhance communication skills, builds community, and encourages students with special needs to reach out to more people

Run and Hit Tennis Club

  • RHTC is a student-run sports club, mainly hosts hitting sessions to help young players improve their skills.
  • The goal of RHTC is to promote tennis activities and to inspire others to play the sport.
  • In the future, RHTC hopes to expand and reach more neighboring communities

Youth Volleyball and Basketball Club

  • We provide basic training on kids/youth volleyball and basketball.
  • Our coaches are High School team players and Club players. We also have parent volunteers.
  • The Club’s goals are helping kids/youth participate and enjoy sport activities, especially for volleyball and basketball, promote youth healthiness, and solidifying the community friendship and connection.
  • All kids/youth and family are welcome!

Youth Service Club

  • CAPA YSC hosts seminars and events for the local community
  • CAPA YSC runs food drives, laptop drives, and provides many other services to the community
  • CAPA YSC provides help to CAPA, which gives voices to parents wanting better education for their kids
